TMDLs in
the Pacific Northwest Presented by Law Seminars
International
Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) requirements of the
Clean Water Act have changed how the nation meets
its clean water goals. The Pacific Northwest leads
the nation in establishing TMDLs for water bodies
that do not meet water quality standards. The U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency has now approved
TMDLs for the Willamette River Basin and many other
Northwest water bodies. Regulated entities often
have very few months to develop their TMDL
Implementation Plans, and TMDLs are being written
for, and litigated, around many more segments in
Idaho and Washington. Our distinguished
faculty brings together diverse perspectives to
discuss the challenging regulatory and policy issues
related to the TMDL process. We will address the
differences of TMDLs in Idaho, Oregon and Washington
and discuss case studies, federal and state
regulations and mechanisms for meeting requirements
to help reach solutions for TMDLs and water quality.

Annual PNCWA Conference: Focus on the Future The
Pacific Northwest
Clean Water Association is pleased to present the theme
for the 75th Annual conference. The 2008 conference
theme will focus on the challenges of ensuring abundant
affordable clean water for future generations while
addressing the challenges of deteriorating infrastructure,
continued population growth, increasing competition for a
diminishing water resource, a reduction in professional work
staff, and greater public concern over unknown effects of
micro pollutants. "Focus on the Future" with your
peers and colleagues in Kennewick in 2008! |

Water Conference
Join us as invited speakers from the Pacific Northwest
examine questions surrounding the role water storage plays
in the 21st century management of this state's freshwater
resources.
- What are
the trends in demand and our region's water balance:
agricultural use outlook, urban growth, fisheries
preservation, changing climate?
- Where are
the appropriate roles in this State of large-scale
surface reservoirs and more distributed small scale
options?
- Can our
regulatory and institutional infrastructure support
innovative, sustainable, and efficient storage
options?
